Masterpiece on PBS has been airing movies adapted from Jane Austen novels. My coworkers and I have been watching and commentating on these productions. Some of which are wonderful...the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, and some not so wonderful...the version of Mansfield Park.
This has lead me to want to know from other library folk, which is your favorite Jane Austen adaption? Or which Jane Austen story do you like the best?

Weather

Since I'm new to the cold, everyone has been asking how I'm enjoying the weather. When I say I'm loving it, I get some mixed reactions. People scoff at me or appear stunned at my answer. I have been told I'm crazy. I've been asked if I'm serious or what's wrong with me.
I find it funny! The best way I can describe it is I have never experienced seasons before. I'm excited to have changes in the weather. Coming from Florida, the forecast was always hot and humid, except for the 2 weeks of winter and hurricanes. When we moved up here, it was beyond hot in Florida and the air pressed down on you. When we arrived, there was a heat wave and record highs of 93. We had an easier move. Sure it was hot, but the air was not heavy.
According to the weather men, it is never warmer than 97 in Florida. They'll never admit with the heat and humidity index, the feels like can be over 100. Since being up north, I have seen weather reports of 5 with wind chill of -25. The words BRRRR on the weather map to represent the cold. One weather man had written high for tomorrow, Ridiculously Cold. I enjoy the honesty.
So, I'll continue enjoying my snow and the cold weather. Then I'll enjoy the spring, 3 months of summer, and the fall. For me, it beats 11 months of summer heat.

March Madness
Well, people are already discussing March Madness. I am excited since Florida is appearing in the brackets currently. (I know 1 among 64 teams.) I truly don't watch basketball, but if Florida shows up in the Sweet 16 I'll start paying full attention. I still remember 2000, when Michigan State stopped Florida in the final game. Of course, Florida won the last 2 titles, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. It's just those Michigan schools thwart Florida every time.
Now onto the March Madness I really want to discuss...March Madness Genealogy Style. Genealogy will be offering programs 3/1-3/7 for anyone interested in learning genealogy. We have a broad range of topics and speakers for the week. You can view the programs at Genealogy Special Programs. I can promise it will be as exciting as the basketball March Madness!
