Laverne & Shirley

I wasn't even involved in this conversation, so I may get some of it wrong, but I found it hilarious. As most of you know, Becky is my neighbor across the hall, my friend, and colleague. When I was wanting a smaller place, I requested her building so we could take advantage of running across the hall for a good cry, movie, tv show, or conversation. It has worked out wonderfully and we take advantage of being so close. Person X mentioned to Becky that they were selling their house and asked if she was interested. Person X used the argument that their neighbor may be selling their property as well, so I could buy it and we can remain neighbors. Wow! We have a reputation. So when the topic arose of one of us moving out of the building, Erin cried out, "No, you can't break up Laverne & Shirley."

Recovery Movies

While I was convulescing, my romance and movie guru, Kay, supplied me with several more movies.

The Picture of Dorian Gray I never cared for the story, but found myself engrossed by the actors in the movie.

Dodsworth A fascinating tale of betrayal, marriage, and what one should do to find happiness in their lives. What's even more daring is the fact the movie was made in 1936.

Adam's Rib I really can't stress how much I can't stand Spencer Tracy.

The Caine Mutiny Oh my! One of my top 3 Humphrey Bogart movies. When he loses control, you truly believe the Captain has gone mad.

The Little Foxes Bette Davis is amazing in this movie. Seriously, I think it deserves more than 4 stars. I'm curious as to Kay's favorite scene. Mine was when the husband is dying and begging his wife (Bette) for help and she sits there and glares at him after telling him how much she despises him and can't stand his touch. I also enjoyed the love story between the daughter and writer. When he tells off Bette, I cheered.

200th

It's my 200th Post. Wow! I began this blog for work; it became a place for me to connect with friends in Florida; a place to share conversations on movies, books, tv, and life in general; to meet new people with similar interests; for me to discuss my quibbles on writing; and turned more personal this year with my health crisis. Since it has turned more personal, I'd like to get to know the people who may read my blog, but don't respond. You can send me an email or comment on this particular post, just to say hi, but I would love to know who may be entertained or annoyed by my ramblings. As for all my pals who I have missed the past month and a half, I'm pleased to say, I'll be returning to work and writing this week.

Recovery

It's been four weeks since I underwent surgery and thankfully, I'm finally on the mend and have received a good prognosis from the doc. Things didn't go well at the beginning though. For those who haven't heard, we had a few hiccups along the way. During the surgery, another organ was nicked and I required two operations, with other unneccesary and gruesome complications. Hubby and I began joking that I should be permanently tagged for the hospital since I underwent various procedures at least once a week for four weeks, after spending four days hospitalized.

I can't deny that I've had some emotional moments dealing with the situation. I was unsure how I would feel about seeing other children, but lunching with Erin and Ian made me feel relieved. The doc informed me, they did discover dyplasia cells that had rapidly grown in two months, which upset me for a while. To realize that I was months away from developing cancerous cells that may have gone undetected, has forced me to reevaluate my life.

The recovery process has been an emotional, mental, and physically exhaustive experience. I have been gratefull to my mother and hubby who took care of me this first month. I'm thankful to the many friends who called, sent cards, and visited. Thanks to my Lost group who came over to watch the finale while I was not fully functional. And finally, I have to thank Becky, who visited frequently, kept me entertained, took me out to keep me from going stir crazy when I was finally released, and tolerated my horrible bouts of sickness.
