Last year, I was determined to get more involved in groups and meet new people, but life got in the way. Then I realized how amazing my friends were and that I really didn't need to cultivate more friendships. I joined the knitting group just to see if I could do it and between bouts of frustration I am having fun. I'm currently working on a new project, an orange and blue striped scarf (Go Gators! See I can fit that into any conversation.) It's my test run before making Michelle's striped scarf.
As many of you know Becky and I work out routinely, but have reached a plateau of sorts. We've thought of other ways to adapt our workout to no avail. I had mentioned wanting to take dancing lessons to Becky, but it's difficult without a partner. Some how we stumbled onto belly dancing. I'm not sure if we thought of it or Kay mentioned it, either way, the thought formed, which leads to last night ... our first class. Now I gave Becky the pep talk that we did fine and I can keep saying that after seeing other members of the class, but I have to admit, I'm extremely uncoordinated. I need to seriously practice these moves if I'm going to learn them. My body does not want to work that way and this is only the arm motions. I hope when we start working on the hip action that I'll do better. Growing up in Tampa, I should be comfortable with dancing that requires hip shaking considering it's the only way I know how to dance.
We shall see. If anything, it's fun and an interesting experiment.

I'm the Younger One!
While I was on vacation/ staycation, Becky and I met up with Mandy to check out a new band. Yes, Becky and I now have another band we like. During the course of the evening, the topic of conversation shifted to why hubby doesn't go out with us. His answer is he's to old for it. Mandy asked how old he was and exclaimed that she had thought him 10 years younger. Good for him, boo for me because she thought I was older than him. Since we've been together, people have continuously commented on my younger husband. Hubby isn't younger, he's five years older than me! I've accepted being the mature one and people believing I was older due to my personality, but come on, I don't look older. I look my age, which is fine, except when standing next to the "younger hubby." And if someone could please explain to me why he looks younger, I'd appreciate it.

Hocking Hills
Hubby and I visited Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio this weekend. I highly recommend it as a wintertime destination for people in the Midwest. It was breathtakingly beautiful. I won't deny there were some slip and slide moments on the trail and one point when hubby asked if I had my insurance card with me as I happened to slide down an iced over incline. For anyone who has ever heard our hiking stories, this is nothing new.
Our very snowy trail. Notice the cliffs on the right.
Hubby smiling. I know it's a shock
The ice cave. We had to walk across a frozen pool to reach this.
Yes, I went behind the falls to take this picture.

End of the Season
College football season is over. I know my girlfriends will be happy since I will no longer be checking the scores while we're out on the town. It was very difficult to cheer for Auburn last night, but I was required as a fan of SEC football. I felt they were overrated this year and honestly shouldn't have been in the National Championship game, but what can you do. Now, it's over and the year that my team took a major nosedive is at an end. Urban Meyer, the Gator coach, who should have stepped down last year finally resigned and has left me wondering if I like the new guy. Time will tell. The story I was most interested in last night was Les Miles', LSU coach, visit to Michigan. Please don't let an SEC team lose it's coach to Michigan. That would really suck! So there is my two cents on the ending of a crazy football season. Now I have to find something else to fill up my Saturdays until next fall!

My 3 Minutes of Fame
I was asked to go on our local station's morning broadcast to discuss The Genealogy Center's new website. I'm perfectly comfortable showing off the site and exclaiming over the features, but the prospect of doing it in front of a camera was daunting. Plus, the program was live, so there were no retakes if I flubbed, which I did with one question. Hopefully only a few will know which one I gave a slightly inaccurate response because my brain couldn't process the question rapidly.

New Year
I can't really discuss New Years Eve. Too much happened and the majority of it should never be repeated. We went to two "parties," saw three bands, ran in the rain, danced, laughed, talked, danced. It was a great night with my gals and hubby, which was the point. I had plans to celebrate New Years with the best in my life and I did, including Michelle via text.
One thing that I got out of the weekend though is things are good in my life. I've decided not to set goals this year. My resolution this year...yes, I have a resolution...is to enjoy everyday. I have no plans, no deadlines, no goals for my year, except to live it. I hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday weekend as well.
