Wow, We're in a Foul Mood

Becky and I were driving home after work the other night, alternating our rants over atrocious behavior we witnessed throughout the day. Anyone listening to us would have been laughing, but for us, our conversation was dire. Then Mich called. The conversation went something like this, that f*n b* didn't f*n show up. Well, you get the point. For the evening, I think Michelle won the round of worst interaction for the day. But it brings forth a crucial point, what is up with all this bad behavior? Becky, Mich, and I have extremely different communication and interpersonal skills, yet all three of us were pretty frustrated and angry. Why do people behave so badly as customers or as colleagues? What happened to good manners or collegial behavior? They seem to have disappeared. I can't speak for others, but my interactions are primarily with those who are in their 50s and older, so it's not teens, gen x, or next gen behaving badly, it has permeated all generations. I know I slip into being a catty bitch sometimes and I do feel guilt for it, but I'm appalled at what is accepted behavior nowadays. And you can't say it's not accepted behavior because in all three of our stories, none of the people have been reprimanded or reproached for their actions.

I must say that though this rant took place about a week ago, I am still angry as ever about my confrontation. I think it is because I know that even if the person is reprimanded, their behavior will not change and I will still end up covering for them so that customer service does not suffer. IRKY!!

You are not a catty bitch. It is not bitchy to have zero tolerance for unprofessional/unacceptable/rude behavior. The unprofessional/rude people are the bitches (and that goes for the guys as well!)
