Happy New Year

So in honor of the New Year, I think we should discuss resolutions. I'll be honest, I had four resolutions for 2008.

- I had the requisite lose 10 lbs and become more toned. Well, my weight fluctuated and I can be comfortable in the fact that I am the same weight as I was last year again. I started a strict workout regiment which I'm sure is good for me, but no tone.

- I planned to have my project completed by July. Well considering I am still working on it, I'd say it's a rollover resolution.

- My DAR application has been sidelined. I was completing hardcore research at the beginning of the year into April, but haven't touched it since.

- Finally I wanted to travel a bit. I went on 8 trips this year. This was the one resolution I am proud of completing. It was a lot of fun.

So for 2009, I have four resolutions again. Some of them are repeats of last years. Anyone willing to share their resolutions for the new year or discuss last years pitfalls.

Hmmmm Resolutions. Let's be honest. I never make resolutions. To me, it's like going to Confession (for those with Roman Catholic leanings). The priest always tells me that I must stop lying to my parents/being disrespectful to the nuns or teachers/smacking or biting my sisters. (You can tell how long it's been.) I say, "Yes, Father," knowing full well that lying will keep me out of trouble, disrespect to the nuns bring me points among the other kids and, well, my sisters WILL continue to annoy me. I was always sorry after the crimes, but the flesh is always weak. So in 2009, I can hope to continue eating better (which would make me healthier and maybe lose weight), and hope that my guardian angel reminds me not to speed (too fast) but I just can't set myself up for frustration by actually resolving to do better. So I guess my resolutions are:
1) Enjoy life.
2) Ask forgiveness, but make no promises.
3) Stay fairly sane.
(Yes, the glass really half empty, but that just gives it a lower center of gravity and it won't tip over as easily.)

I second Delia's resolution to enjoy life!
