Where Did the Money Go?

I usually don't go political, and still am not. I'm just ranting.

I opened my pay check for the new year only to discover I am earning less. I was quite furious initially, then was informed by my coworkers that they all were earning less, which has something to do with some tax credit we used to get expired, so now our federal tax went up. Anyway, the point being, I'm earning less.

Then I turn on the news and see reports on how the economy is improving. I'm curious for who? I live in the Midwest, where we have to close the public computer lab on Sunday, so people can file unemployment because the numbers are too high for those who need to file. I'm tired of hearing how things are getting better cause as someone who had to downsize their living space and now is earning less, I'm still sinking with this recession. Could we at least be honest that the economy still has a long way to go.

I ask that the comments on this post remain clean cause I know my many friends are on different ends of the political spectrum. Please no comments relating to those damn Republicans, damn Democrats, damn capitalists, damn socialists, damn Independents, you get the point. Let's keep it friendly, but ranty.

Those damn so-and-so's. ;)

I also love hearing about how the economy is better, yet seeing no evidence of it. Makes me feel like I am living in a fairy-land. It's my happy place. There are puppies and kittens and butterflies and rainbows here. Oh, wait - I guess it is their happy place, only for the folks who see the economy improving. Sigh.

My husband and I just had a baby with VERY little money starting out. I mean we had to pray that we will be able to eat some days. Luckily, I have a job so we have insurance and some cash flow. Now, James has a job so our cashflow is more stable than it was a few months ago. Lots of people told me to get on WIC or get some aid for the government.

No! I have a job. I can use my money wisely. We might not have been able to get the big screen TV we wanted, we might have to be a little more creative for date nights and things to do over the weekend, but we managed. Don't get me wrong, we aren't in the clear yet, but we are comfortable now.

The economy is getting better for those who aren't doing anything to help it out. No one is entitled. The world doesn't owe anyone anything.

I'm not looking forward to my check...

I agree with you that the things are not getting better. My health insurance premuim went up starting on the new year. So I'm getting less too. Doesn't help that I'm single mother of two with little support and getting assistance is not an option. I have cut back on things to support myself and my kids. I am making it work but there is no relief.
