Another New Thing

Last year, I was determined to get more involved in groups and meet new people, but life got in the way. Then I realized how amazing my friends were and that I really didn't need to cultivate more friendships. I joined the knitting group just to see if I could do it and between bouts of frustration I am having fun. I'm currently working on a new project, an orange and blue striped scarf (Go Gators! See I can fit that into any conversation.) It's my test run before making Michelle's striped scarf.

As many of you know Becky and I work out routinely, but have reached a plateau of sorts. We've thought of other ways to adapt our workout to no avail. I had mentioned wanting to take dancing lessons to Becky, but it's difficult without a partner. Some how we stumbled onto belly dancing. I'm not sure if we thought of it or Kay mentioned it, either way, the thought formed, which leads to last night ... our first class. Now I gave Becky the pep talk that we did fine and I can keep saying that after seeing other members of the class, but I have to admit, I'm extremely uncoordinated. I need to seriously practice these moves if I'm going to learn them. My body does not want to work that way and this is only the arm motions. I hope when we start working on the hip action that I'll do better. Growing up in Tampa, I should be comfortable with dancing that requires hip shaking considering it's the only way I know how to dance.

We shall see. If anything, it's fun and an interesting experiment.

You know you're going to have to dance for James

In honor of your "new thing", I am wearing my hip scarf...so what if it's around my neck, it's the thought that counts

I don't know how you have the energy (or the time) to do all this stuff!!! I'm jealous . . . even though me belly dancing would not be a pretty picture! =^)

Uncoordinated? It's a wonder I haven't smacked myself in the head yet trying to do snake arms--or that I haven't tripped over my own feet during whatever walk we were doing. I've decided veils were designed to cover the blushes of girls like me. I'm having a blast though--I'm glad we're doing it.

Michelle, you're a great dancer--you would totally rock belly dancing!
