I have always disliked this holiday. It's overly commercialized and emphasizes coupledom to the detriment of everyone. I mean for people who are in relationships, you already have your anniversaries to bask in your love. For parents, you have Mother's Day and Father's Day. Children have birthdays. Why must there be a day that says hey! romance is in the air, so celebrate? Today is the day the skinny kid with braces doesn't receive a card or chocolate or flowers. It's the day the single person watches everyone else acting gooey and in love, while they question themselves. And for what? So a bunch of stores can sell stuffed animals, candy, and flowers. No thank you!
Here's my Valentine's Day message: I am blessed to have many loves in my life that I get to share everyday with; my crazy family who truly drive me insane, my hubby who lacks a romantic bone, my best friends who own my heart, my friends who are always there to make me laugh. Love you all everyday!

I agree that often too much is made of Valentine's Day. Although this year, my hubby game me some beautiful roses and I cave him chocolate turtles, there are many years that a card (maybe!) might be the only thing. It doesn't mean he loves me less when he doesn't give me anything. In fact, the roses meant more because they are so unusual. Of course, February 14 was my father's birthday, so although he often gave my mother a pretty card, and my mother often gave us girds small chocolate hearts, the big celebration was Daddy's birthday. So when this skinny little kid didn't get any valentines at school, it was no big deal. I'd get some of Daddy's birthday cake!
On the plus side, there will be lots of discounted candy tomorrow . .

So, you don't like Valentine day? I agree with Anonymous...cheap chocolate tomorrow!!! And it's the only time of the year you can buy an entire bag of cherry tootsie roll pops. So, there is an upside.
